SPCA Reflection 1

WHY DID I JOIN THE SPCA SERVICE PROJECT?

There is nothing better than knowing that you are the reason for the spark and life in a dog’s eyes. Most people see dogs simply as animals, but they are living creatures with feelings too, just like us. We don’t understand what those poor creatures have been through. Constantly being moved from house to shelter, and then having to live within a cage, hoping that one day someone will come and take you away to a better place, love you like you know you deserve. I am a part of the SPCA because I am one of the people that see that spark within a dog’s eyes. I know that the other fellow members of the service group feel something similar towards these creatures. We are raising awareness that these dogs need homes, or at least some materials to get them through the cold South African winters, like blankets. Spreading awareness that if you are planning to adopt a pet, the first place you should check out is the shelter. There is nothing better than the love you can offer one of these creatures, especially considering the horrid and abusive lives most of them have lived until now.

Many people just don’t realize that it is true what people say, that a dog is man’s best friend. He may be there for only a part of your life, but you are his whole world. One day, unfortunately, they will die. There is nothing better, for a dog, than knowing that they had people that loved them throughout their life, that gave them everything and, even though they were not living with their furry brothers and sisters, they had a family. Regardless of whether they were or were not of the same species as them.
